Boo. Textbooks.
I went to the bookstore to purchase these babies today. I love the smell of new textbooks, but I hate the price. I could have paid rent and bought the cute dress I found on Etsy last night.
(I'd rather see my money hanging in the closet.)
I was really excited for the first day of class today. That's right, my first day was on a Tuesday. I have 6 classes, one right after the other, from 8:00 to 5:00. So this girl has to sit for 9 hours every Tuesday and Thursday.
Hello A.D.D.
That is a lot of focusing, note-taking, and learning to cram into one day.
BUT, we are optimistic about this class schedule. My week isn't going to change just because I complain, right people? I have to be optimistic. ALWAYS OPTIMISTIC.
This semester is also a little different because I never see Boyfriend. We always ate lunch together in the Student Union. This was always my perfect combination- food, Boyfriend and people watching.
Now, I grab my food on the run and try to quietly eat it during my 12:30 class. You know when you are eating around other people who are really quiet and you feel like they can hear every bite you chew? Hence the attention to eating quietly.
So, while I am running around campus and trying to softly chew my chicken wrap, Boyfriend is across town doing his student teaching. I wonder if he misses our lunch dates as much as I do.
In order to not seem like a complete Negative Nancy, here are the good things about today!
Cedar Falls woke up to beautiful, white, fluffy snow. Campus is always gorgeous when it snows and I was happy it greeted me in such 'winter wonderland' form.
I also love the first day of school when you learn just which friends, or lack of friends, will be in your class. I am proud to say I have several buds in every class I have this semester. Nothing like getting through a long day with your girls by your side.
And finally, I have really great professors.Except for one Mister Not So Nice Pants but we won't talk about his terrible approach to teaching and unachievable course standards. Not to mention his retched sarcasm and his complete disregard to sensitive issues. We won't be discussing those. I managed to get some professors who have great love for teaching and fabulous assignments that will challenge me and be interesting.
Bring it on Spring semester.
