Last night I cracked my iPhone screen. Yes, the one I just got.
I was running to my car during class break to feed the meter, got spooked by a speeding car coming around the corner, unsuccessfully tried to hop the curb and as I pulled my hand out of my coat to brace my fall, that beautiful, little phone went flying. It costs to be clumsy.
I was instantly sick to my stomach and tears filled my eyes. I was distraught to have ruined something so expensive and so new. Then I called my dad and he did what he does best; he calmed me right down. His answer to my shaky voice and frustrated tone, "Linds, it's not like you dropped a week old baby off of a building. Accidents happen- we'll get it figured out."
That made me laugh and put it all back into perspective. That man knows me well and is a saint at talking me off the ledge. So the next time you make a whoops, just think "at least it's not a baby."
Unless that whoops is a baby....
