sensational salad

Have you guys ever seen Food Inc.?
If you have, you will probably understand this post.
If not, Google it first. Then read what I have to say.
Basically, Food Inc. discusses how the food industry in America has changed and how it ripples out to affect many aspects of life; from health care to the economy to our human race.
It is seriously intense.
We are watching this documentary in one of my classes this semester and it has really changed the way I view food- and grocery shopping!
Today I found myself spending much more time in the fresh fruits and veggies section- and an overwhelming time feeling guilty about buying Tyson chicken who treats their coups with ammonia and antibiotics.
So, I bought the ingredients to make this fresh, amazing, flavorful salad!
And I am not a salad eater.
Getchya some lettuce, peas, fresh broccoli, a little red onion, lots of green olives and smother it in poppy seed dressing. It is sooo good.
My next step is to start shopping at a local grocery store, which gets it's produce from local farmers.

Really, watch this documentary. Even if you continue to eat the way you do, at least you will have an idea what you are eating, where it came from, and how it is impacting your world.

Oh, and see that cottage cheese? Notice it is being served in a wood bowl.
True Fact: Cottage cheese tastes 10x better served out of a wooden bowl. Try it. I double dog dare you.

i haven't seen the documentary yet, but I've heard a lot of bad things about Tyson's chicken...I love shopping at farmers markets, but the downfall is higher prices..oh well I figure I'll be saving it in 20 years when I (hopefully) won't have a million diseases..
