Kanye 'Mid' West?

I love living in the Midwest.
I feel safe and comfortable. People work hard, give you the benefit of the doubt, go out of their way to talk to you, help you, or just wave.
I am definitely fascinated with life outside my little bubble, but I would not trade in my bubble for anything else.
Today, Boyfriend and I read an article on TheOnion that says Kanye West has moved to a small town in Iowa- very close to where we live now. Apparently, Kanye feels completely validated in his career and has reached his "full potential." Supposedly, he is dating a young women from Dubuque and is now living in Spillville.
Now, I'm not naive,(Okay, maybe sometimes I am) but this is all over the internet.
I find it hard to believe that Kanye West would leave his life of luxury and move to Iowa....

But why is that hard to believe?
I love it here. I see the joy in small town bars, county fairs, gravel roads and farming families.
Why can't Kanye?
or anyone else for that matter?
Why can't people believe that someone would acutally choose to live in the Midwest?
It makes me sad.
I'm even guilty of it.
But every place has something special to offer; things that can't be replicated or duplicated. I have seen this over and over again in the little traveling I have done. The Midwest has something pure that no other place has. And many people choose that innocence.
I choose this. Maybe not forever.
But, maybe it will be forever.

Linny, I love your blog..it definitely brightens my day when I read it :)
I chose to leave the Midwest and spread that feeling to the people I encounter on the east coast. People are a little taken back by how generous I can be, and how I'm willing to help them whenever I possibly can. I like to think I am making a good name for small town people in Iowa, from 1000+ miles away. I wouldn't change my upbringing for anything, and I will definitely install all of those values in my children, who i wish to spread to their friends. Someday we may conquer this place ;)
Love you dearly,
Rachy B

Why? Well, because. Kanye is a fame-seeking asshat who doesn't deserve a town as lovely as the one I chose to have my wedding in :o)
